Old Chinese trunks were mostly used to storage clothes in the bedroom.
Ancient Chinese did not hang their clothes but instead would fold them and place them in a wardrobe or trunk. Trunks would have often been stacked on top of each other.
People today use trunks not only in bedrooms but in any room in need of extra storage. Because many of them are painted in bright colors, they are a great addition to any room in the house.
